Research description

Following the second world war the retail landscape has gone through a series of changes. Today it is increasingly characterized by external locations and large-scale actors. These changes have implicated a fiercer competitive climate for smaller retailers, as well as nearby traditional retail clusters. My research centers around these changes and the effects they have on regional and interregional economic activity. More specifically, I look at the entry of large scale retailers and their effects on incumbent firms in the retail and hospitality industry.
