My research focuses on labour market inequalities in terms of unemployment and wages. Unemployment, in particular among immigrants, is one of the most pressing policy issues facing policy-makers today. By exploring what is driving observed differences in unemployment risk between groups on the labour market, research can play a crucial role in improving labour market policies.
At the moment I am studying differences in unemployment risk between newly hired immigrants and native Swedes, a group that has been scarcely researched. Moreover, I use detailed wage statistics on the Swedish retailing industry to decompose the gender wage gap and to estimate the wage gap effect of gender equality plans.
